How to book

We first need to talk with you and understand what it is you want to learn with us. This conversation is important. It’s the start of you getting to know us, and us getting to know you — how else can you learn and how else can we teach?

So please ring 01584 856724 and tell us what you want to learn.

Or write to us with your telephone number and we will call you at a time that suits you.

When we’re sure we understand how we can help you, we will prepare an invoice for your full payment.

Payment is by cheque or bank transfer.

Terms and Conditions

We want to continue running small courses with 2 of us to work with you, so we therefore have these terms:

  • We accept your booking if we are confident that the course is right for you.
  • Your full payment IS your booking.
  • To book your place, you need to pay within 14 days of receiving our invoice.
  • Once you book, we cannot offer alternative dates.
  • We reserve the right not to refund any portion of your fee if you cancel and we cannot fill your place.
  • We also reserve the right to charge a 50% cancellation fee to cover our administration costs.

Travel and Accommodation

You arrange your own travel and accommodation. The studio is about four miles out of town (Ludlow), in a lovely part of the Shropshire countryside.

For farmhouse-style B&B accommodation near the studio, we recommend these two places in particular: Tugford Farm (which also does self-catering) and Seifton Court. Both places can also provide you with a fine evening meal if you so wish.

A few miles away, at Bishop’s Castle, you can stay in a stone-built barn, perfect for 2, bed and breakfast or self-catering as you wish: The Bothy at Bishop’s Castle, Shropshire.

In Ludlow, someone recently stayed at The Mount and said that it was good.

For other accommodation in Ludlow, please contact the Ludlow Information Centre: 01584 875051. Please also look at for accommodation details here and here.

Access and mobility

There are steps leading down into the studio, and steps to the first floor where we relax and have lunch.

Our style of glass painting generally involves standing on your feet for a large part of the day.

It also involves fairly vigourous movement of the arms and upper-torso.

“What about tools, paints and brushes?”

We look after everything for you! We want you to concentrate on your painting: please don’t think about anything else. Brushes, paint, light-boxes, aprons: everything you need is here for you to use as you need.

“Can I raise questions of my own?”

We expect you to! This isn’t an automated production line; it’s a glass painting course that is designed with you in mind. We change the course to suit who’s coming.

Intensive glass painting courses with Williams & Byrne

Remember: we take no more than 5 people at a time.

Also remember there are 2 of us to teach, and a small group of just 6 of you: that’s how seriously we take your wish to paint on glass.

Interested in an intensive glass painting course? You’re in good company. Please e-mail us NOW or ring 01584 856724.

We’ll want to talk with YOU: it’s all part of making sure you get the glass painting course that’s right for you. Please read this:

“ ... the fact that you take the time beforehand to find out the individual’s needs means that all of my topics were covered; and even though I say it myself I am pleased with my progress!” (Clive Perryman, Herefordshire)
