Are you in love with glass painting? Do you want to paint on glass? Whatever you know, our intensive, technique-packed glass painting course is unlike any other glass painting course you’ll find:

  1. Individual coaching in a small group — you learn FAST
  2. The core techniques of stained glass painting — you learn the ESSENTIALS
  3. Our 35 years’ experience at your disposal — you get REAL ANSWERS
  4. 12 hours intensive teaching in two days — you learn REAL SKILLS
  5. We keep in touch with you AFTERWARDS!

Only 4 glass painting courses each year ... spaces are strictly limited ... every place is always taken.

That’s why people come to us from all over the world — from Peru, Japan, New Zealand, California, Australia, Canada, New Jersey, Denmark, Holland, France, Ireland and Italy.

“I am now filled with inspiration and ideas” (Shelagh Davies, Hampshire)

“It was good to learn so much (and to have a laugh) in such beautiful surroundings. I came away inspired to create beautiful paintings” (Carol Edwards., Devon)

“The course more than lived up to all my expectations you both inspire me” (Sarah Haworth, Yorkshire, England)

“Every aspect of the weekend was a huge pleasure (Gill Faragher, Shropshire, England)

About our glass painting courses

Here’s what makes your time with us so special:

  • We show you techniques. This means you learn the fundamental skills. You can then develop these however you choose.
  • Your course has no more than five people on it. Our small groups mean you get individual attention. This is unlike other painting courses with nine people or more: how can a large group be good for you?
  • Even better, there are two of us at all times. This means you’ll always get the personal attention you really need. There’s no waiting for the “tutor” to get free from the queue of other people he must see before he sees you! We’re always on hand.
  • In other words, there is 1 of us to 3 of you: where else will you get that kind of attention?
  • You concentrate on glass painting and nothing else. No lead-work or glass-cutting is involved. This means you’ll improve your glass painting at an astonishing pace!
  • We supply lovely designs and cartoons for you to copy. Together we’ll pick designs that you’ll love and which will also move you on. We have a huge number of designs for you to choose from, such as medieval heads, ornamental quarries, animals, and decorative borders.
  • Each glass painting course is different. This means you get a painting course that’s exactly right for you.
  • We have vast experience of painting and of teaching. With us, you get the best.
  • We keep in touch with you afterwards — ask us questions by e-mail and we answer your questions with the best information that we have.
  • The studio and the countryside are lovely!

Does that all sound perfect? Come on one of our glass painting courses and you’ll learn a lot.

“The course was an excellent introduction to glass painting in a wonderfully interesting studio (Stephen Cumberland, Shropshire)

“Thank you both so very much for a very informative and instructive glass painting course” (Pam Davies, Suffolk)

“I enjoyed the workshop more than any other than I have attended (Patrick Gillooly, Falkirk)

“... hugely enjoyable, and I learnt so much (Jackie Carey, Gloucestershire)

“I have never experienced such wonderful and dedicated teaching (and that is from someone who has been in the business for years and, as a one-time inspector of schools (!), has observed hundreds of teachers). Thank you both so much for passing on your incredible knowledge in such a beautiful environment” (Pat Marvell, London)

“Thanks you again for these amazing of days. I enjoyed every moment of it and have never felt so hungry for information on a subject! Thank you also so much for the patient teaching and amazing attention to detail. The ability to teach well is also a talent and you both certainly have it!” (Bruno Merz, Yorkshire, England)

“A very inspiring weekend on every level” (Adrian Arbib, Oxfordshire)

“It was a DELIGHT to spend the weekend with you ... much more of a joy than I believed possible ... I’m only sad that it went by so quickly but time does fly when you’re having fun!” (Sue Haigh, Yorkshire)

“What kinds of things do I learn?”

Here’s what you can expect to learn:

  • How to trace lovely fine lines
  • How to create marvelous and evocative shadows
  • How to mix perfect glass paint
  • How to highlight
  • How to paint the front and back of the glass

And:

  • How to do all your glass painting and fire your glass just once!

Other studios won’t teach you what we will, that’s for sure!

Even if you’ve done some or all of these things before, we know you’ll learn more from us.

“I just wanted to thank you for a wonderful course — you have great vision and I hope you continue to blossom!” (Pauline Lane, Essex)

“It was great to meet you both and learn new skills!” (Pip Florance, Suffolk)

“Many thanks for a brilliant couple of days (Stephen Millington, Halifax)

“Since completing the course my confidence has greatly improved (Michael Holroyd, Lancashire)

“It is one thing to be able to paint beautifully and skillfully and ‘have the touch’ but to be able to show others at different levels and help them understand how the medium works is quite another. I think you both balanced it perfectly as no-one I believe could have felt unattended ...” (Sarah Lace, Cheshire)

“The course was excellent in every respect (Richard Carder, Milton Keynes)

A lovely weekend (Clare Wainwright, Birmingham)

“What is included in the cost?”

Here’s what you get:

  • Tuition in groups of no more than 5
  • 2 of us to teach and work with you - in effect, each “group” is thus no more than 3
  • 12 hours intensive teaching over 2 days
  • Use of our tools, kiln and brushes
  • All glass and other materials
  • A course that’s designed freshly for you
  • Lunch and snacks throughout the course

The cost for 2-day courses during 2010 is £250 PLUS VAT per person (so £293.75 with VAT at 17.5%): small groups, 12 hours’ intensive teaching, all glass and materials, lunches, refreshments during the day.

For dates and availability, e-mail us now.

Where else can you get such a glass painting course?

Are other glass painting courses cheaper? Yes, certainly. But consider this: would you rather go elsewhere and spend the same money on a 2-day course with 8 people on it and just 1 teacher?

Or is it better to spend £293.75 on our course with (at most) 5 people on it and 2 of us to teach and guide you PLUS glass, tools and lunches all included in the price?

And we also help you afterwards.

Also, our course is re-designed each time it’s run.

On top of everything, we are a really successful studio: we teach you because we want to.

“The teaching took us through techniques and skills that would have potentially involved months of trial and error. A great weekend” (Stephen Cumberland, Shropshire)

  • We will ONLY accept your booking if we are confident that the course is right for you.
  • Your full payment IS your booking.
  • Once you book, we cannot offer alternative dates.

“Can you also teach me one-to-one?”

We can indeed give you one-to-one stained glass instruction to cover various subjects of your choosing at the level that you require, for example, cartoon and water-colour techniques, methods of reinforcement, painting with nib and oil, toning with oil, tracing with chalk.

  • Our one-to-one stained glass instruction is tailored to your requirements.
  • We will all agree an agenda in advance.
  • The fee for 1-to-1 tuition starts at £325 (including VAT at 17.5%) per working day in the studio, and depends on what you want to learn.
